Speaker Biography
Dr. Janette Klein is the Dean of Library Services at the University of Central Missouri’s James C. Kirkpatrick Library, where she provides strategic direction for library operations, advancement initiatives, and donor engagement. Since joining UCM in 2017, she has held several leadership roles, including Faculty Liaison Librarian, Acquisitions Librarian, and Collection Management Coordinator, overseeing Technical Services and the development of collection strategy. Appointed University Librarian in 2020 and later retitled Dean of Library Services in 2025, Dr. Klein has led numerous facility enhancements, grant-funded projects, and collaborative initiatives that strengthen student success and align library goals with institutional advancement priorities
Her background includes over a decade of management and auditing experience in the hospitality industry, bringing a distinctive perspective to relationship building, stewardship, and organizational leadership. Dr. Klein holds a Ph.D. in Information Science, a Master of Business Administration, and a Master of Science in Library Science from the University of North Texas, where she also earned graduate certificates in Advanced Management in Libraries and Digital Content Management.
