Dr. Kimberley Bugg is the Chief Executive Officer and Library Director of the Atlanta University Center (AUC) Robert W. Woodruff Library, an academic library serving three Historically Black Colleges and Universities within the Atlanta University Center: Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College. Prior to joining the AUC Woodruff Library, Dr. Bugg was Chief of the Researcher and Reference Services Division at the Library of Congress. With a distinguished career in library science, Dr. Bugg has expertise in strategic planning, leadership management, and research support.
A practitioner-scholar, Dr. Bugg’s work centers on leadership development and career advancement within academic and research libraries. She is the author of Leveraging Talent: Strategies to Improve Library Recruitment, Retention, and Diversity, which explores approaches to building inclusive, high-performing library organizations. A national speaker, Dr. Bugg frequently presents at leading academic and professional institutions, including the American Library Association and Harvard University.
Dr. Bugg currently serves as Director-at-Large for the Association of College and Research Libraries, Vice Chair of the HBCU Library Alliance, and is a member of the Rust College Board of Trustees. Dr. Bugg holds a Ph.D. from Simmons College, an MLIS from North Carolina Central University, and a BA from Georgia State University.
